About Hamasho Borena
The Hamahso Washing station, where this limited lot of coffee is processed, works with the coffee export company Daya Bensa. Established by producers in 1996, they are no stranger to the Ethiopian coffee industry and have produced many high-quality coffees that have placed in the Cup of Excellence (COE) competition.
The smallholder farmers who contribute to this lot have farms that sit at some of the highest elevations for growing coffee in Ethiopia, some farms sit at nearly 8,000 feet. The extreme elevation combined with the sunny days, volcanic soil, and lush vegetation of the nearby Bombe Mountain range creates a very unique microclimate. It allows the coffee cherries to develop slowly, meaning that all the sugary goodness and complexity has time to really concentrate inside the seed (aka bean). 
After harvest, delivery, and sorting, this lot is anaerobically fermented (without oxygen) for 72 hours before being thoroughly washed, then dried on traditional raised beds.
