 The image depicts all seven members of Stetsasonic's classic lineup — Daddy-O, MC Delite, Frukwan, Wise, DBC, Bobby Simmons and Prince Paul — and likely dates from the period surrounding their critically acclaimed 1988 album In Full Gear. Formed in Brooklyn in 1981, Stetsasonic were among the first hip-hop acts to perform with a full live band. Their fusion of turntables, live drumming, jazz and reggae helped lay the groundwork for the Daisy Age sound Prince Paul would go on to define with De La Soul.
Founded by music mogul Russell Simmons, Rush Artists Management oversaw the business side of hip hop's commercial rise, representing Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Public Enemy and Whodini alongside Stetsasonic.
