Details of In Focus| Other Products |Genuine Prehistoric Fossil Tooth — Meg 3.95", Summerville SC

This is a genuine fossilized megalodon tooth, measuring 3.95", recovered near Summerville, South Carolina, part of the Charleston area that is one of the best known megalodon fossil regions in the United States. A display stand is included, as shown in photos.
The rivers and creeks around Summerville cut through fossil-rich layers left behind by warm, shallow seas that covered the South Carolina Lowcountry during the Miocene and Pliocene. Megalodon and the whales it hunted thrived in these coastal waters. Today, moving water keeps eroding those old deposits, and collectors recover teeth like this one from creek beds and dark river bottoms.
This tooth survives as a fossil because it was dense and enamel-coated, unlike megalodon's cartilage skeleton, which broke down quickly after death. Most Summerville teeth come out dark, so this one's creamy white enamel with scattered tan areas stands out. The light color comes from the minerals in the sediment where it was buried, and it gives the specimen a look you don't often see from this area.
Guaranteed 100% authentic. No reproductions, no casts.
