With its dense, useful 3' x 3' habit and generous flower display, Cuphea ‘Strybing Sunset’ is an easy-care shrub that earns its place quickly. In mild coastal gardens, it can bloom nearly year-round, covering itself in small, glowing tubular flowers in warm sunset tones that bring instant charm to borders, containers, and pollinator plantings.

Also known as Strybing Sunset Cuphea or cigar flower, this compact shrub is a favorite for hummingbird gardens, cottage borders, sunny mixed beds, and patio containers. Its many-branched shape makes it easy to tuck among other plants, while the bright blooms keep hummingbirds checking in again and again. Pair it with salvias, lantanas, grasses, yarrow, abutilons, and other long-blooming shrubs for a colorful, wildlife-friendly display.

Plant Cuphea ‘Strybing Sunset’ in full sun to part shade with well-drained soil and regular to moderate water. Trim lightly to keep it dense and fresh. Warm, floriferous, and wonderfully useful, this cuphea is a long-season garden performer. Explore more hummingbird favorites in our Cuphea collection.
