An original Grande Ballroom concert poster promoting A Tribal Rock Flow, featuring performances by The Third Power, Richard “Popcorn” Wylie, The Rationals and The Frost. Designed by David Carlin in the bold psychedelic style that became synonymous with Detroit’s underground music scene, the poster captures the creative energy that made the Grande Ballroom one of America’s most influential rock venues during the late 1960s.Alongside nationally recognised acts such as MC5 and The Stooges, the Grande Ballroom championed Detroit’s wider musical community, giving groups including The Frost, The Rationals and The Third Power a platform as the city’s garage rock and psychedelic scene flourished. Posters produced for these concerts have since become highly collectible pieces of music and graphic design history.Featuring striking period artwork and typography, this example is a classic piece of Grande Ballroom ephemera from the height of Detroit’s countercultural movement. The poster comes directly from the personal collection of Mary Cobra (Mary Ramirez), founding guitarist of The Detroit Cobras, whose archive reflects a lifelong connection to Detroit’s musical heritage.Key Details & Collectability
