For Your Everyday List｜Detroit Grande Ballroom – Woolies / Avant Rock / MC5 Concert Poster｜ Home Decor

An original Grande Ballroom concert poster promoting performances by The Woolies, Avant Rock and MC5 on 14–15 October, produced during the height of Detroit’s psychedelic rock movement. With its vivid fluorescent colours and flowing psychedelic typography, this Detroit graphic artist Gary Grimshaw design is a classic example of the bold visual style that became synonymous with the Grande Ballroom.During the late 1960s, the Grande Ballroom stood at the centre of Detroit’s thriving underground music scene, hosting groundbreaking local acts alongside nationally recognised artists. Posters from the venue have become enduring symbols of the city’s countercultural movement, documenting the rise of bands that would help shape garage rock, proto-punk and hard rock.MC5’s inclusion places this poster firmly within one of the most important periods of the band’s early career, while also highlighting the wider community of Detroit musicians who shared the Grande Ballroom stage. This example comes directly from the personal collection of Mary Cobra (Mary Ramirez), founding guitarist of The Detroit Cobras, whose archive reflects a lifelong connection to Detroit’s musical heritage.Key Details & Collectability
