Amplimune is an immunotherapeutic suspension for neonatal calves (1–5 days old), used as a one-time treatment to reduce mortality and clinical signs associated with calf scours caused by K99+ Escherichia coli. Its mycobacterial cell wall fraction (MCWF) stimulates monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils to initiate an innate immune response. The emulsion is modified to reduce toxic and allergic effects while retaining immunotherapeutic activity. Administered intramuscularly, intravenously, or subcutaneously, the 5 mL vial provides multiple 1 mL doses. A practical addition to calf care and cattle health programs seeking effective livestock health products.
